The front and back have inset panels surrounded by moulded and notched trim, with shaped sides, a scalloped top and turned feet below. Some of these decorative elements appear to have been added or altered during the settle’s life rather than all being part of its original construction.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe seat lifts to reveal a good-sized storage box underneath, making it useful as a hall or boot room bench, or for storing blankets and other household bits and pieces.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is an old, characterful piece which has clearly had a life, and is being sold as such rather than as an untouched example.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eCondition\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eGood, solid antique condition with plenty of age and wear throughout. There are old marks, knocks, scratches, colour variation and general surface wear, along with evidence of alterations and additions made during its life. Some of the mouldings and decorative trim appear to be later additions.
