A 1960s room divider and shelving unit by British furniture maker Schreiber. The open upper section features an arrangement of shelves for books, plants and other bits and pieces, while the lower cupboard has two sliding doors with recessed wooden handles. There’s also a contrasting black lacquered surface above the cupboard and four tapered legs. A practical piece of mid-century furniture with a simple, Scandinavian-influenced design.
The unit is double-sided, so it can stand against a wall or be used to divide an open-plan room, creating a separate area or corner without blocking out the light. It’s in fair vintage condition, with signs of use throughout, including scratches, scuffs and some chipped finish around the edges, particularly towards the upper rear section. All fairly typical of furniture of this age, although the wear is worth noting.
