Solid Oak Folk Art / Apprentice-Made Chair
Solid Oak Folk Art / Apprentice-Made Chair

Unusual handmade solid oak chair with a distinctive sculptural silhouette and strong mid-century influence. Constructed from thick oak boards with three curved back splats and a generously upholstered seat in deep burgundy fabric. The design has a striking architectural quality, blending elements of folk art, studio craft furniture and Atomic-era styling.
Likely a one-off apprentice piece, college project or workshop-made chair rather than a commercial production model. The honest hand-built construction and unusual proportions give it plenty of character and make it an interesting decorative piece as well as a practical occasional chair.
The chair remains solid and usable. It displays various signs of age, wear and workshop-made construction including surface marks, minor splits, small repairs and imperfections throughout. Upholstery is presentable but shows age-related wear. A characterful piece rather than a pristine example.
