Edwardian Oak Side Chair with Barley Twist Back

An Edwardian oak side chair with a shaped crest rail, decorative barley twist back spindles and turned front legs united by stretchers. The removable upholstered seat pad appears to have been recovered in a 1960s or 1970s geometric fabric, which gives the chair a bit of contrast without looking out of place. A straightforward period chair that would work well as a dining chair, bedroom chair or hallway seat.

The chair is in good vintage condition with age-related wear, surface marks and some rubbing to the finish, particularly around the seat edges, as shown in the photographs. The later seat pad is clean and usable, although it could easily be reupholstered if preferred. A useful, honest Edwardian chair with plenty of original character.
