A 1950s extending dining table with distinctive Sputnik styling. The compact rectangular top has gently rounded corners and shaped edges, supported by splayed tapered legs with cross-bracing beneath.
An unusual concealed butterfly extension mechanism allows the two halves of the top to pull apart, revealing a folding central leaf that opens smoothly to extend the table from 98 cm to 142.5 cm.
A compact table with a substantial feel and plenty of character. In good vintage condition, with visible signs of regular use, including marks, scratches and wear to the top surface. The extension mechanism operates smoothly.
